WHY MOST PREFER TO LIVE THAN BECOME SPIRITUAL

Our real nature is not known to most of us. And that is the soul, the ever present, self sustained knowledge as confirmed by Gurus whom we can trust blindfolded. Most get only a glimpse of their own real identity which is unlimited love and energy.

Why our real nature gets hidden? It is not really hidden. It is actually fully expressed in the form of the universe. We are actually a part of the grand communion of nature. But because of the ego and differences, we fail to establish this harmony most of the times. In short we lsoe our real nature because of the ego, arrogance and ignorance.

Imagine universe is a huge palm with billions of fingers, each finger being a living thing. Or an octopus with infinite hands. Now each finger may think it is the finger, identify with the shape and location of the finger and compare themselves with other fingers, make relations with other fingers, imagine that a few fingers are our friends and relatives and the rest are strangers. Is the finger seeing the whole truth?

Far from the truth. We want to see only that part of the truth that suits us, that makes our likes in mind fulfilled. If each finger think this way, it becomes very divisive. Some fingers form a syndicate and try to gain superiority among the rest. They feel powerful that way. Are they better off than the rest? They may think so. The palm will not ! The fingers fail to notice the palm, but try to live the given life of the finger and think that is about it ! Those fingers which see the palm are lucky. They realise that the finger was only just a minute part of a super giant palm underlying ! And all other fingers are just similar expendable parts of the palm. Fingers (generations) come and go. New fingers come. Old fingers drop off. The palm remains. At this bigger reality, the finger gets awestruck, the jaws drop at the whole picture.

An insignificant finger with timed limited existence tried to bulldoze other fingers simply because of its ego, the identity of its shape and location. The palm just remained a silent (apparently) spectator. But is the palm really silent and passive? No way ! It has always been nourishing all fingers at all times without any discrimination whatsoever, so that they get over their limited feelings and realise the bigger truth (that the fingers are not independent but simply parts of the palm).

The realisation that the finger is just a part of a huge bigger palm, initially will break the ego of the finger. But that is actually the beginning of accepting the bigger truth. With the ego of the finger, it can never accept the bigger truth, that the finger is just another insignificant part of a giant palm. That is the lock that stops one from self realisation.

That is, by identifying and believing that I am a finger, as endorsed by fellow fingers, the hero finger actually blocks its own real identity that it is actually a part of the palm. This is the crux of the existence paradox. Those who crack this are brave because it needs tremendous power to take the first hit, that you are nothing or at least insignificant or expendable ! Most cannot accept this reality. So they keep the identity of the finger and befriend similar fingers and try to live a worthy life among the sympathizing fingers. Soon the fingers show their real colour (they are all selfish and egoistic) and the life with them actually nourishes the rest more than the individual finger. Thus the finger again reaches a loss of importance. But now, there is nowhere to run. Trapped all around by similar fingers.

That is why those fingers who take a dip to find out the truth are described as wise and brave. It needs bravery to face the ridicule of the gang of fingers around. Only the wise will ever do such a search too. The unwise think it is more fun to spend time with other fingers as long as alive. But this life will end sooner or latter. The fingers live and die even without knowing what the palm is, where the root of the fingers are. Some sort of dumb existence. But the adventure and uncertainty of the search for truth, real identity, puts off most easy going fingers. Only a rare brave finger takes the challenge, if it is convinced of the limited, meaningless existence as uncertain expendable fingers and reasonably sure of the success. Even if it does not succeed, the thrill of the journey may be the incentive
