Hinduism says man can become God. Because what he has now is only a relative incorrect temporary identity and once the real identity is realised, the current identity would disappear and the new identity would only remain. In short, man can transform to God !

Islam laughs at this idea. It says man can never become God. Because man is after all created by God in the first place. So how can the son become the father? He can at best become a very good son. Simple logic.

Christianity says God needs a human medium to express his divinity to mankind. Otherwise God is also somewhat help less !? Fortunately Jesus was that chosen son to channelise God's love to humanity. Man can never reach even the status of Jesus. Forget God.

Hindus feel stupid !

Buddhism, Jainism, Sufism and Zen Buddhism says God is the inner silence consciousness existence which can be attained if the mind is freed of all desires (impurities) and attachments. More or less like Hinduism.

Hindus have company !

Which view is correct? Stranded?

Religions tell us unbelievable magical stories about the founders. Assuming that the religions do have interests to project their founders in divine light (simply to shock and hook followers), the scientists need verifiable evidence to confirm the claims of religions and not just miracle stories which can drop the jaws of the illiterate. Religions make conscious attempts to portray the founder as 'above' ground floating in mid air ! If he was just an average guy like us walking on earth, the awe will not be created on human minds. Ordinary heroes can not capture the imagination of the people beyond a certain limit. For example a film star or a cricket star. The fans do not consider them as much different but may be a wee bit better, that is all. But a prophet requires even bigger image than even the superstars. Hence the introduction of magic masalas to prop up the images.

So something 'miraculous' and 'super natural' are introduced consciously by calculating priests which can make the founder 'above' the normal people, a status that normal people cannot even dream of reaching. Religions invent cock and bull stories and drill into the potential devotee's head until he gets submissive and fearful. The prophet is presented as superior than the devotee. The mind gets heavy. Head droops on the thought of the founder. The priests plan has worked ! The fish has bitten the bait. Had the prophet been introduced as a normal guy, people would just have a glance and pass up ! “Oh ! Him ! I know what he did last summer !”

Basically, to project anyone 'above' someone else is actually fostering the ego. As Osho says what is required is a way for common people to reach the highest possible realms of existence like the prophets achieved. Blind faith and prayers to the prophets are practical ways to pass time between meals. There is no other use. The disciple's mind gets filled with the heavy weight founder. It bends, gets passed on to the spine which get permanently bent for life. Now how can a fearful hunchback ever think of becoming like the prophet? Even superstars cannot. Dead end.

Spiritual journey of most ends on meeting the priests who introduce the prophet as an awesome super entity. Human mind is already fearful. Now the priests are preaching supernatural things that the founder reportedly did. Like milk oozing from a snake bite wound of Mahavira ! (Osho wonders why it did not turn into curd !). Blood oozing is normal. Milk is a refreshing idea to hammer in the belief and rope in miracle mongers who want their life to be changed overnight with a magic wand! Human mind succumbs. Oh ! Founder prophet! You are really great as I can see from the stories that the priests spread. I am nothing before you. Please save me too and lift me up ! I am a useless sinner as the priests told me. When I am afraid I drink. You make me afraid. So I need a drink. Spiritual journey ends at the spirit shop. The seeker gets spiritually high of a different kind ! The priests are happy. Here is a prey to admonish for life! Dear prey. Please pray as we tell you.

To the scientist, these make believe stories make no sense. Like the court, it needs verifiable evidence. Osho says the body of Jesus was taken out of the cave on the 3rd day of crucification by his loyal friends (to avoid further insults) and was transported to Kashmir where it was buried. He even gives the address where the remains of Jesus are traditionally kept by a Muslim family ! Is the church interested to investigate and find out the truth?

Church will shiver at the thought of Jesus' skeleton. If verified as true, then the resurrection theory invented to create awe on the illiterate will fall flat. Christ will become an ordinary human being and fall to the ground. The awe will be gone from the people. They may refer to Jesus as "poor stupid guy" which is death bells to the church which needs a propped up divine image of Jesus to keep the followers. The more the followers, the lesser the per capita donation required. What an idea Popeji !

Priests preach in a cryptic way which even the intelligent followers cannot easily understand. Reading between the lines they preach it is something like this. "Please believe in Jesus so that we can ride on your belief ! But beware ! Never ever try to become another Jesus ! Because we cannot simply ride enlightened Jesuses. Instead they may ride us. Do you understand? Do pray to Jesus to help you out of the miseries in life and for booking a comfy accommodation in paradise after death. But do not follow Jesus in to-to. Then we may have to follow you too!”.

“One Jesus has made us feel small ! One more Jesus will break our minds and backs. Instead of following Jesus, just follow us. We know how to lead you 'around' Jesus. Besides, if there are followers, life is easier for us, you know. Little drops make the ocean. Small donations make big money. Money is required for meeting expenses. Without followers, we may have to actually work to earn a living. Sensible guys do not work themselves. Preaching is easier than studying and then working all life to earn. Stupid followers make us feel better too. At least we are better than them ! Do not follow Jesus directly. It is high voltage line. Just follow us for bearable shocks"

How interesting!

Without miracle stories, people will treat prophets as just another one of them may be with a larger thumb ! No special elevated status as planned by the priests will work out. Interestingly the prophets did not mind this equal treatment with people ! But the priests simply cannot allow this 'downgrading' of their symbol. Because their own sustenance depends on the up keeping of the prophet's image. Some truths can not be disclosed for survival of miracle mongers.

That leaves us floating on an ocean of lies created by cunning people. Even intelligent ones cannot question these lies. Questioning is banned by the grumpy priests who lose the temper at the drop of a query ! "What? Asking impertinent questions? You will be cursed by the prophet and would face wrath of God. You will be thrown into hellfire. Just keep quiet and believe in the stories. It is good for you ! In fact it is better for us". Most people succumb and do what the priests say.

Coming back to the question, can man become prophet and finally God itself. To answer this, the vague definition of God as the creator of the universe and man himself is not sufficient. More specific clarification required on God's location, qualities and ways to reach his location.

If God is an entity sitting beyond the sky as conveniently defined by religions, the location is identified. To reach there rockets or radio waves can be used. But God is not a physical entity either. This outer space location is thus incorrect, just figments of imagination of half wits and not confirmed by science.

According to Hinduism and Non abrahamic religions (not founder centric) God is the soul, which lies under the mind. So to reach God's location one has to reach the bottom of one's own mind. That is all it takes ?! This is not a bad idea either. No fooling around in the temples. No chest beating and praying to the founder. No expensive rocket required. Simply look into the bottom of one's own mind. This is in fact verifiable by Tom and Jerry without Dick in the middle. Just reach the bottom of one's own mind and Lo ! God can be found smiling there!

Is this true? Wishful thinking? Or verifiable by modern science?

What are God's qualities? Religions founded by prophets are unanimous in this like Hinduism. God is holy father in paradise of eternal life as Jesus experienced. God is all powerful, all knowing and all pervading, majestic beyond description, kind and formless according to Prophet Mohammed. God is Sat chit anandam (truth, existence bliss) according to Hinduism. God is the pure consciousness existence in inner silence according to Sufis, Zen masters and Osho. So these descriptions about God are somewhat in agreement on some basic qualities of the so called God.

Remember God is not described as an object or person which can be felt through senses but a formless existence residing within all bodies. The tool that one has to feel this core existence is the mind. Normally male mind is used to imagine shapes of women and device plans. There is another use of this mind. That is to use it as a telescope to watch inside. Normally the mind creates impressions about objects and persons outside. Do it by all means. But once through, try to modify it into a telescope. Not to watch females bathing across the river but to turn inwards and see what the hell is inside, if at all any as these so called seers and gurus and prophets have been admonishing us. It is now while alive or never ! Hurry up !

To convert mind into a telescope, firstly it has to be cleaned. Mind has several traits and cultures both imprinted on birth and acquired while living. The tendency of mind is to collect and keep information on all desirable sensory pleasures that the owner of the mind likes. Now these are obstacles to convert mind into a telescope. These engravings in mind are to be erased first. Or train the mind to de-clutter the normal business when free.

Once the mind is relatively thought free, one can get into meditation. During meditation thoughts may bubble up in mind. Do not resist. After all they are your own thoughts ! Your babies ! Allow them to pass through mind. If you resist, then the mind gets confused and try to adjust to your liking. Another trap will be created designed by yourself to trap you ! It is this very same liking that one has to over come. So allow the mind to flow as it is. Let this continue for some time.

A stage would be reached when the thoughts become less frequent. Now watch the thoughts closely while they pass by. More importantly watch the space between the thoughts carefully. This is the way to look into the bottom of the mind. The way that the seers were talking about. Focus all attention to this space between thoughts. When thoughts come do not resist. Let them pass. But watch the space immediately after the thought passes ! That is the idea ! It would b appear to be a useless exercise as nothing would be there between the thoughts ! But that is the catch. Watch that empty space between thoughts. is it really empty?

On continuing with this, one would reach a stage where there are very few thoughts coming to mind, or still better, no more thoughts at all. No thoughts whatsoever ! Do not be afraid. This is like a blank radar of ship in the middle of sea where there are no ships around. Blank screen. Concentrate on this blankness of mind. The emptiness of mind. You will realise that it is not really blank after all but an awareness is alive underneath it which only enables one to watch this state of mind. Watching the watchman ! This awareness was always there while we were living life, thinking and sleeping. Only that we were not 'aware' of this awareness within. Now when the mind is calm and thought free, the awareness within gets more pronounced, visible and loud. This is the soul at the bottom of the mind. Welcome home. You are that soul ! Tat tvam asi ! (You are that) Aham Brahmasmi. (I am that soul) An al Haq ! (I am the truth). Until now we were thinking sunlight is light. Now we realise that the sun is the source of light ! Similarly we used to have thoughts earlier. We thought the thoughts were real. Now the thought is not real (because there are no thoughts now) but the seer of the thoughts is actually real. This is a revelation. Samadhi. Nirvana. Enlightenment.

Clear?

All living things experience this core soul at all times, by default without any effort. Because the soul always exists within living things and hence no one can live without experiencing it. So everyone (including plants and animals) always experience the presence of soul. In fact we exist, float on the soul. The only difference is that the enlightened ones have realised that they are the soul at all times. Then there is no coming back. They remain as the soul for ever. The salt statue (ego) tried to measure the depth of ocean and got dissolved. Completely. Now only the soul remains. The ego never really existed. We thought it existed. And went through all the agonies of life ! People imagine themselves as their body and mind until they get enlightenment.

Enlightenment lights one inside out and lightens one as light as light itself ! By reaching this status, the seeker merges with the soul and becomes the soul itself. When the sun burns out and the life on earth ends, the soul remains. A fresh life will originate in one of the conducive planets around a new star. Evolution and humanity would occur. And we debate again.

Isn't this all fun? The divine fun of intelligence existence. Smile with it. At least pretend a smile. Cheeeeese !
