LIFE IS A DREAM

Enlightenment (Self realisation, Nirvana, Kaivalyam, Thuriyam, Bodhodayam, Jeevan mukthi) is the ultimate or the core state of existence of every being. Most are trapped at the body level of consciousness. Identify oneself with the body and behave accordingly. This is the lowest level of self realization ! From there, there are ways to reach the true self by analysis, self control and meditation. Anyone who reaches enlightenment, thus reaches another level of identifying oneself. This identification is not based on the body or mind but an underlying Chaitanya.

A crude translation of Chaitanya is smart, dynamic, conscious light. That was a lifeless definition of life ! Sorry about that ! But I hope you get the point.

This Chaitanya is the same in every being.

Hence, to the 'enlightened' soul, every other being will appear as the same Chaitanya in various conscious levels. Ultimately, when the ignorance (Avidya or Maya; which makes one think one is the body and the world is real) is broken, all such beings will realise that they are all the same Chaitanya in various forms. Such an enlightened soul, one who realise that he is actually the pulsating Chaitanya within the body (and even without, because Chaitanya is not dependent on the body. The reverse is actually true) cannot say s/he is the body. Instead the body belongs to the Chaitanya.

Here we make a U turn having become wiser ! Yes. That is correct. I am the Chaitanya. Who ever said I was the body? We frown at everyone who belittled us to live as the body. After this brief enlightenment, we again restart behaving a the body ! After all we are used to it. LOL !

At this high state of existence, the soul cannot be termed as belonging to the relatives or some religion or country. The soul realises that it is the power that is behind all activities in the universe. It is not 'different' from say the Sun or the activities of the stars; the growth of a tree. The making of red blood corpuscles in blood. The always awakened presence that makes breathing possible even while asleep. No activity is alien to that Chaitanya, which the seeker realises is own actual self. Then the seeker becomes the Chaitanya itself. There is no other identity.

The Chaitanya cannot claim, for example, that it is limited to some body or land or space or time. It purely is the all pervading Chaitanya. Time and space are dependent on it. Not the other way round. Just that the seeker realises this at some point.

But we cannot think like what the enlightened soul thinks. So we think the enlightened soul is respectable and 'beyond' us. The enlightened soul will see us as those trapped in body consciousness. When we look at an enlightened soul, what we see is a bright face and confident sure movements of the body and meaningful words of wisdom. What really happens is that the soul, having understood everything is now relaxed and happy and sees the rest as just childish plays. Or acts due to ignorance.

And what is this ignorance ? The body identity ! Thinking that one is the body. It is not totally false. Not totally true either. The body identity is just a reflection of the truth in space and time.

We think it is the only truth and believe it is real. To know the truth, one has to reach the state of enlightenment. Then the Chaitanya only becomes the truth. The rest are all truths dispersed in time and space, which we were holding on so dearly. It is like we try to grab a dream and hold it for our self. It simply is not possible. But that exactly is what the majority are doing. The enlightened one can see all this as nonsensical, a game of supreme intelligence of mind boggling proportions.

Until one gets that vision, the struggle to capture the world (or parts of it) for ourselves will continue. These is no escape ! Those who captured a bigger chunk will giggle at the less fortunate ! The unending drama of life. Watch it or play it. Both are the same. Relax. Ha ha !
