OSHO Vs CHRISTANITY

Osho’s book "Christianity the biggest poison and ZEN the remedy to all poisons" is worth a read. Don’t get put off by the title. It gives a non-Christian’s original view on Jesus Christ and how the selfish clergy misguides and scares people under the cover of poor Jesus Christ. Need not accept Osho’s views. But just learn how to see things in the correct perspective rather than glorifying things as mystery mongers and hide the inconvenient facts that do not suit  hidden agendas.

Even the very usual routine things like the sun rising or wind blowing are actually quite miraculous, if one has the senses to see them. However we are taught to look at the diamond with respect and look down upon the ordinary stone. This is because of competition. Scarce things are expensive if demand is high. Had the ordinary stone been scarce than the diamond, lets say in a planet full of diamonds and hardly any stones, then the stone would be more costly than the diamond. Intrinsically, the diamond and the stone are the same. Made of atoms. This is how God sees a diamond and stone. Different collections of atoms created for different applications but not originally intended for possession or sale! Our urge would be to know how much it would fetch ! We actually don’t need the diamonds. It is the money that would fetch with that object is our prime concern.

And that is the simple difference between our minds and God’s.

If you are the only one alive on earth, then is a diamond any different from a stone in value to you? Do you feel like possessing the diamond or hiding it in a 'safe' place? You may require stones more to throw down the fruits. Not required, because there is no other one around to snatch it from you. This is the difference between our minds and God's mind. God does not feel possession of its creation. In fact the universe (including the stones and diamonds) is totally dependent on God for its existence.

If we can cleanse our minds of desires and attachments and false values, then we would be able to see through an innocent eye of an infant, which is the God's eye. Then we can see both our own mind inside and the world outside without any bias. Now we see only the outside because our minds are taught or tuned to the external objects with a hidden agenda to capture them. To grab valuable materials as much as possible is our motive approved by the society. We are free to collect as many stones as possible. But we don’t need them. Now imagine a small diamond as small as a sesame seed glittering among these worthless stones. A commotion results.

We need to know and harmonise our small minds with the universal mind, the mind of God. Then only we come to KNOW God. Claiming faith in God and doing violent things harmful to others is simply egoistic ignorance. One will have to pay for the damages later after the fun and frolic are over.

What is needed is a clear, rational, unbiased mind to know the universal mind, the mind of God. Faith in God or his intermediaries such as prophets and priests are absolutely unnecessary. Instead of 'believing' in some unknown entity named God and then doing things according to our likes or as directed by some equally or more ignorant religious leaders, what is required is to know what God really is.

Surrender to the supreme lord after thoroughly knowing it all by yourself and not after listening to some half wit, so that God can act through us directly. The problem of becoming proud and egoistic is that then one can not know God but only your own merits and trumpet them until you fail. Thus the ego actually shields us from knowing God within. Egos play spoilsport and mess up things while the God is blocked from flowing through you / acting through you without interruption. You would be transformed from an ordinary mortal with unending needs and facing stiff competition into a blissful divine entity without needs.

Proof? Just look at people who are not egoistic. Calm serene pleasant loving faces can be seen. You feel like befriending them and spending time with them. Now look at an angry arrogant male chauvinist who thinks he is the boss. He may not hesitate to hurt others and even kill to have his way. He is tensed and combative. What is the difference?

The mind is calm in the former and is agitated and restless in the latter. God can be seen smiling from the bottom of mind when the ego is gone. Actually God always smiles inside every being. But we fail to note it because of our busy life and the attention focussed outside. God loves all because all are his own creation, nay God’s own manifestation to be precise. Different individuals are like the fingers in a palm. They all are joined at the palm. To the palm all fingers are its own parts ! How can the palm love or hate a finger more or less?

Hence one individual claiming superiority above the others is simply not Godly but the irrational exuberance of the ego. When the ego subsides, the smile of god comes out. So where is God? Inside the mind. At the bottom of the mind to be exact. So it is required to ‘under stand’ the mind to know God. God is actually your own self. What is required is to identify that self of yours and not misled by the identity of the mind or the ego as yourself. What is God’s identity? Consciousness in its purest sublime state. It knows everything. So it has to be a conscious one. What else is God’s nature? It is happy by itself. That is why when the ego goes, the smile of God comes out from the bottom of the mind through the face. Only human beings can do this.

God is definitely in control of the universe. No doubt whatsoever. Only the church is placing Jesus Christ as God's sole agent for their own personal propaganda. God is with everyone including the terrorist who flew the planes that crashed into the twin towers. So many saints in the world have known God. Jesus Christ was one of them. Projecting Jesus as the only one who knew God or as the only way to God or as the only son of God shows the ignorance and vested interests of the church.

To be a fair individual, it is required to understand that knowing the God is possible and several people have done the same in the past. We can also do it. Jesus found his way. We can find ours. It is not required that we are dependent on Jesus to know God. God is our own father. He is father to Jesus too. But Jesus attained a far more selfless state from where he could communicate with God directly. We are unable to do that because we do not know how to reach that state. The essential quality required to know God is a clear and clean mind and a state of egoless ness. Then any one, repeat anyone can know God.

Making Jesus Christ or Prophet Mohammed or any individual as a mandatory intermediary to reach God is not prescribed by God but by some male chauvinist religious leaders to further their interests and exploit the followers. These so called religious leaders do not know what God is. God does not make itself visible to them either!  Osho tried to expose the rackets of religions in the name of God and he was maligned by the religions. The religions would eliminate anyone who questions their comfortable lifestyle behind the founders. For them, God is just a convenient way to tap the bewildered followers. Adding faith and fear and creating greed about after life benefits in paradise are the tricks they use to keep the followers confused and brain washed. They actually don’t believe in let alone know God. How can they lead us to God, if they themselves are unaware of the way and destination?

Next time these religious leaders exhort you to worship God, just ask them what is the exact location of God. Earlier before science developed, they used to say that God lives up in the sky. Now when the rockets are fired every other day, has he bolted from there to a safer place may be between the Kuiper Belt and Oort Cloud beyond the solar system cursing the mankind for being discourteous to him and disturb his peace?

The religious leaders don’t allow such queries because they do not know the answer. Instead they might scare you with charges of blasphemy and wrath of God ! Wrath from God?! That is a big laugh. God is pure love. Wrath is in human minds. When the wrath is removed, one can see God. Then how can God have wrath?

If Jesus Christ or prophet Mohammed are able to come back today, religious leaders might run for cover. Even if God comes directly and tell them to behave like siblings, priests may not follow. Because people like to do things that suits them. God or no God. That is the fact. When difficulties come, these people pray to some mysterious entity to help them. When the going is good they hardly bother. God is not as idiotic as we like to imagine blessing us or cursing our enemies as and when we like and choose. God is not our slave to do things that we demand in the form of worship.

In the story an attempt is made to believe that Jesus saved the woman by missing the flight that crashed to the tower. What about those who managed to catch that plane? Would this woman who escaped the plane crash never die? I hope you get the point. The point is that death and physical well being is not the evidence of God’s presence. Death is a certainty today or tomorrow. If you are alive and well today, you think God is great. Praise the lord !

If not we suggest to God to correct his wrong attitude particularly towards us! Here we are presupposing that living longer is God’s blessing and dying is his curse. We are living in time. The body is designed to last a prescribed time. As everyone is moving about, some collisions and accidents can happen. Otherwise none should move. While moving keep the rules of traffic and allow the other one his right of way. Accidents can be minimised that way only. By consciously choosing to move in a disciplined manner.

God is not to be boxed up into this death trap. When things are good (according to some individual) God is praised. When things are tough, it is the God’s incompetence! This attitude is seen among human beings. This is the God of one’s imagination. But he forgets that the God only gave him the faculty to imagine. How can God get trapped or limit to the imagination of his own creation? It is like taking a photograph of the scientist who invented photography and then saying “This is the secret of photography or This man invented photography”.

What does that mean? It is simply a photograph. There is no scientist there. The secret of photography is not there. It is better to say “ This is the photograph of the scientist” . Similarly one can say I imagine God as this. Is the God his imagination? It only shows he is able to imagine God as what he imagines. Imagination is only a process of mind. The real God is to be experienced. There is no other way. We can not explain what sweetness of sugar is. To one who has not tasted sugar, any method of communication is not enough to make him feel the taste of sugar. He has to taste it to know.

But that would not help us to know God and how he acts. What is required is to try to see God as the will and power behind this mammoth universe. Try to see God as the one magical conscious presence which is capable of creating sweet smelling flowers from stinking mud and make us see, smell, taste, touch and hear the universe among other things. And not simply as the entity who saved a life by delaying a cab. That view degrades God into the rank of a street magician.

Do you know that the inclination of the moon’s axis is so appropriate that it does not fly off to the Sun from Earth’s orbit? Or that the sun and the moon appear to be of same size from earth even though the sun is 400 times bigger because the sun is 400 times farther than the moon from the earth. Which supreme scientist decided on the degree of inclination required or fixed the diameter of sun and moon and the distance required from earth? Try to see God in these infinite wisdom evidences. Not as someone who interfered to divert a stone which would have hit the eye and made it hit the head.

Try to see the infinite intelligence and majesty of God in these big things. Not in paltry issues like escaping an accident by some individual and dragging in poor Jesus Christ to glorify the incident as a miracle. What about the ‘unlucky’ one who got the seat in plane when the ‘lucky’ woman escaped death? Was that ‘unlucky’ person cursed by Jesus Christ? Come on. Don’t box up Jesus Christ and God into this routine happenings alone. God witnesses all activities. He did not puncture that car tyre to save that woman. If so one has to also say the he held back the puncture of the unlucky one so that he managed to reach that ill fated plane in time. Both arguments are nonsensical as they do not cover all aspects but selectively project a few to confirm superstitious belief and blind faith in God. God might be squirming in his paradise when you equate him with a miracle man ! So take a holistic view, Don’t see / present things in parts and add fuel to blind faiths.

A body can’t last for more than its designed life. We are trying to box up God to the state of our lives. If the body and living status are fine, God can be praised. Else God is not up to our expectations! If an accident occurs, God has cursed? Come on. Try to study the reasons of the accident and avoid it in future. Learn the lesson and move on. This universe and life are not permanent. These are changing colours or pictures of matter in space and time created by a supreme magical entity which is not bound by time or space limitations. Try to see God as that infinite existence and not as some small time miracle worker to the believers!

God is the reason and thought behind the universe. No two human bodies are different to God. Both are from the same cause and root. If you are able to see this majestic entity which resides and blesses equally all living things, you would just prostrate with tears in your eyes for misunderstanding him.

 

Osho was against the church because of its devious ways to brain wash people to remain obedient and unquestioning like sheep and never allow them to realise the real potential of the lion within everyone. Because if people get confident and get over superstitions, then the very existence of the clergy is challenged.

The clergy of church as an institutionalised religion has parallels to the Hindu priests’ attitude still existing in India. That is to keep the people fearful of sins and promise them better life in paradise if they behave, obey without questions and above all donate generously to keep the priests in comfort !

What an idea sirji !

And the people have no option than to carry these lazy bone priests as if they are mandatory for the rest to live safely. The common people are not allowed to think that the priests are actually parasites who hate work and depend on people's fear and ignorance to eek out a living.

We are able to discuss this because we are educated professionals and can think ourselves. As we get educated, we realise that there are only two types of human beings. Male and female. Religions muffle this very idea of free thinking and universal brotherhood. If people think in line of universal brotherhood, then the priests will find it difficult to divide them and survive by leading fractions. The religions want only stupid sheep to follow without questions and donate; herds and herds of them. The more the better, the lesser per capita donation.

These herds need to get educated to wriggle out of the emotional exploitation exercised by the religions on them. We are now capable of telling the priests like "I know you are smart. But I also have some common sense. Do some useful job for a living, dude !" When all are able to speak boldly like this, the priests would have to drive taxis for a living.

The converse is also true. If people are allowed to learn all religions and listen the great thinkers, they would realise the heights  reached by great people and why the stubborn orthodox people hate thinkers. Because it discomforts them, their sleep is affected. Their sleep is more important than common good ! This is the politician's mentality. The few elite simply do not want all to prosper. If all become elite, then who would polish the shoe?

So let most of the people, remain poor illiterate in the dark. Scare them about sins and promise them of paradise and sweet smelling virgins after death. Only one thing to remember. Never ever give them their rightful share of resources on earth right now while alive!! Let them lead miserable lives worrying about the sins and dreaming of the after life paradise. Just ensure that donation is made periodically and prostrate to the satisfaction of the spiritual middlemen.

The result is that the illiterate are always in fear and guilty of the so called sins invented by the priests; and they are reminded constantly about the punishment awaiting after death. Do you have doubts? Just listen to the religious speeches delivered by hysterical priests (who claim ownership / guardianship of the God as if God is a helpless baby) in public stages some of which are even telecast.

This is like living under the sword of Damocles. By following this lifestyle, the common people forget about their rightful share of resources is captured / controlled by a 'lucky' few. The religions and priests quite unfortunately stand by them than against them and admonish the poor people to be faithful to a particular God to live better like the elite! This is cheating because all cannot become elite together. The few elite would never let go off the captured resources. Only the Govt can help. But who is in the Govt? The same people brain washed by the priests.

I do not know if some one can see this reality hidden from the common people's thoughts.

Things are to be seen in the correct perspective to understand. Otherwise we tend to slam the views which are not palatable to us even if the views are true. What I could understand from Osho's books is that he was far ahead of the times and gave a direction to the people to become fearless and happy about their natural activities, befriend sex than feeling guilty about it in order to transcend it than getting more indulged  into the muck that people normally experience.

Osho is branded as a sex addict by the rattled orthodox religions and male chauvinists who treated women as their personal property. He was like a prophet who freed people from the clutches of religions which regularly administer their pre-planned agenda of catching the people in distress and making them feel sinful / guilty and then promise them paradise if they do what the religious leaders were comfortable with.

By following these religions, the people never realise their potential to grow into another Jesus, a prophet Mohammed (PBUH) or a Buddha. Instead they are asked to prostrate and pray like beggars for alms from an entity named God about which the none had any real idea.  In short religions are actually business ideas perpetrated by a gang of cunning male chauvinists. Their real agenda is to control wealth and women and keep the other (weaker/ ignorant) males at a safe distance from the females.

These religious leaders are well and truly misleading the people and living off their sweat. If the Jesus or Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) now re-enters this world, then these Charlies would be running for cover ! Clearly religions make people fearful and guilty for reasons best known to the leaders and then exploit that emotion through veiled or direct black mail. The problem of this predicament is that only a very few free bold thinking people like Osho can see this. That is why the religious leaders try to eliminate such visionaries. If people realise that they can also become great, then the religions would crumble. Religions want subordinates who do not question what they are told to. By following such doctrines, man turns into obedient sheep.

Osho wanted people to shrug off their inhibitions and be naturally free rather than getting tied up in knots by half cooked methods and rituals which go round and round the priests. He says that if one completes a sexual act in 3 minutes, he would feel the urge to do it again the next day. 8 minutes, and he would forget it for a few weeks. Because the longer merger satisfies more deeply. And if they can remain connected for 3 hours (yes hours), then both would forget sex for ever having experienced it to its limit.

Christianity invented the sin theory to sex by which Adam and Eve 'sinned' first to make the mankind. This view itself is ridiculous. Such views make people look at sex with shyness (because they like to do it) and suspicion (whether any sin / guilt are associated with it). Having created this confusion the religious leaders are happy that the devotee has bitten the bait and can be controlled and milked by asking him to pay for the committed sin. In some religions, instead of teaching the scientific way to have sex, the insistence is on how to keep the women under control by inventing 'God's wrath' theory if she does not behave according to the designs of the leaders ! Thus a woman's adultery is viewed as a grave offence where as the male's same act is an acceptable natural tendency ! If you can see closely these are male chauvinist views and God has nothing to do with them.

Sex addict religious leaders find such shackles on women as convenient tools to scare her to submission. Their own sexual activities are glorified and the women impregnated by them are hailed as blessed ! Those women who refuse to get degraded are implicated and harassed until they surrender. Thus the substance of institutionalised religions boil down to just controlling the wealth and women ! As simple as that. No God is ever of any importance to the religions. God is just a pretext to enjoy the resources on behalf. Osho tore away this facade of the religions and that was why he was so much feared and hated by the religions. His views would remain for ever even after these religions cease to exist even as the people get educated.

Human history is only a few thousands of years old. 400 million years left to go until the sun burns out ! These are just the preliminary confusions of humanity ! But we need to move very carefully reading the signals and making informed decisions than playing blindly into the hands of smarter guys. The smarter one would win the dumb because the smart is more intelligent. But the dumb can at least exercise his common sense.

ALL CAN BLOSSOM LIKE BUDDHA !

Osho was just a simple honest fearless truth seeker. Seedhi bath... no bakwas ! Only the jealous weak males try to see Osho in bad light. But even that is mentioned in his books. Osho says a Buddha, a Mahavira or a Jesus is a rare flower that blossoms on earth by the grace of God or as a blessing of God or as a lamp post to the destination to which mankind needs to travel to reach Godliness. Those males who get jealous of these flowers may even throw stones at the flower to destroy it. If the flower gets damaged, the world loses. God withdraws the flower ! No one wants to smell stones and so the stones are jealous of flowers !

This is because the fragrance of such flowers inadvertently attract the women. This is totally different from a sexual attraction. But the sex addict males cannot understand or digest this. Because they have never experienced what is beyond sex. They look at the flower with suspicion whether it hides a stinking male with a large organ beneath. So the ordinary males keep their females deliberately away from the flower or distract their attention to something else fearing that if they happen to see this flower, then the females may no longer treat these males as heroes as before !

What they do not know is that an ordinary male only had turned into a flower after transcending sex or by removing all desires from the mind. Any one can do this. Most do not want to ! Because they cannot. Besides chasing desires is more fun than removing them from mind ! They remain as males and do not turn into flowers because they keep sex hidden and accesses it only when no one is around or when it is dark so that no one can see. But they keep sex in mind for later use and that is the difference between the flower and the ordinary males.  The remaining niceties are all meaningless.

Interestingly women know all these male games.

But she keeps quiet. She may love the flower and still bear with the jealous male stones praying that one day these stones also would turn into flowers !! She learns to adjust with the stone and feel contented.

The purpose of life is not to research on the various levels of sex but how to get over it. Most males are die hard (no pun intended !) researchers on this topic. They think they enjoy sex but it is actually sex that enjoys them. It is like smoking. Initially you smoke cigarettes. By and by Cigarettes start smoking you !

It may not be required to consume poison to know whether it kills.

Very rarely someone is able to get over sex without getting into it.

It is like a pole vault. At the time of jump the pole is to be discarded. Those who don’t discard the pole in time, end up holding the pole after crashing down on their backs in the pit!

Similarly one can very well go through all the levels of sex (physical, mental and spiritual) as you wish and as circumstances allow. But the aim is not to get indulged in it for ever in the various levels of enjoyment but to transcend it.

That is when we look up for a Guru. Until then all males including Gurus appear to us as just another male like us and try to keep them away from our females!

Osho Misunderstood :

I am not a follower of Osho or his ways. But I have read some of Osho's books on academic curiosity. The books are bold and genuinely witty and thoroughly enlightening. His books are not like the boring religious books which scare the readers or put them into sleep. I was also doubtful about his books whether they were promoting sex life as warned by the religions. To my surprise he has not urged anyone to chase sex and enjoy more sex as the purpose of life. Instead he is kind to those who cannot get over sex, still use sex for pleasure, thinking that it is the ultimate pleasure available.  His advice is to go beyond sex without offending the god-given natural sex drive within or sweeping it under the carpet.

I would agree that he was no ordinary saint like those who used to keep women away from the meditation area fearing that their presence would create sexual feelings among Brahmacharis !  Osho reached a stage from where he could see people struggling with sex and fighting over it and advised them to go beyond sex and love everyone irrespective of sex. Common people who think lowly about sex and treat sex as 'dirty' or to be 'hidden' etc cannot go beyond that feeling ever.

This is actually a very tricky situation in human mind (dealing with the sex drive) and needs to be understood exactly as it is, without adding spices or allowing the male chauvinist views like treating women as subordinate and loading all sex rules against her to keep her in control to use her as and when necessary.

Osho says the real pleasure in life is not in doing sex but by befriending and going beyond it by transcending sex. Once one transcends sex, he / she can, for example, embrace another man or woman without feeling sex but simply feeling love.  This is what Mata Amruthanadamayi is also doing possibly without reading Osho ! It is thus a natural high state of human existence once one can go beyond sex. Those who cannot can only think that the embracing man and woman are about to insert  ! Because he has seen only up to that. Because he has only done / known sex until there. That is his limitation. Not Osho's.

Children reach this beyond sex state very easily and naturally as there is no sex drive in infant stage. But the fearful parents make the children corrupt and fearful like themselves ! We end up with all sorts of neurotic males on the streets waiting to see, smell, touch and if possible taste the females. Their senses are still in body sex. They cannot rise above that level because of their inhibitions, fear and lack of knowledge about sex. To compound matters the religions do not give any reassurance on sex and the society shuns sex in public. Sex drive cannot be contained by any off these.

Chained sex is another Mullaperiyar dam ! It can break anytime.

Osho attributed Christianity’s version of "sex is sin" theory as the main reason for the pitiable state of mankind. People want to have sex and celebrate life. So the opportunistic religions catch the followers on their 'weakness' and tell them to feel guilty for doing it! While sex is actually a natural process which is a strength or faculty of the mankind, religions scare people by publicly branding sex as sin but still do it behind the backs ! 

Osho cites the example of an egoist dog who wanted to be the leader of all other dogs in town. For this he admonished the dogs "not to bark" under any circumstances. "Barking is the weakness and that is why we remain as dogs ! "Dogs had to agree. Because they did not know !Those who barked were penalised. The dogs became very scared and confused. It was natural for them to bark. Now the leader had banned it. They feel very miserable. Finally the full moon night arrived. The leader dog could not resist barking ! All other dogs have somehow restrained themselves from barking for becoming saints !

The leader dog went into an isolated corner and barked his heart out. He felt tremendous pleasure. The other dogs thought it was one of them who lost control and joined en core !

To those who know only penis to vagina insertion as sex, Osho may appear to be someone doing similar things. He actually showed a way to reach the core consciousness without condemning sex but by befriending, knowing and most importantly transcending sex. At the core consciousness level all people realise that they are simply different fingers on the same palm and all can hug each other like different themselves without an iota of sex in mind.

This state beyond sex is pure love and is repeat is difficult to reach. Those who cannot reach there may think those who manage to reach there are sex addicts. They would for example react violently if their women are touched or even looked upon by another male. They are addicted to sex and can not get over it. They are the ones who condemn Osho. Because they cannot understand Osho.

Now to reach beyond sex there are other ways also which are detailed in Karma yoga, Jnana yoga, Bhakti yoga and Raja yoga in Hinduism. Religions also try to reach that state by different methods but most get tripped by sex because they try to meddle with it by either trying to control it by celibacy (such as the nuns and monks) or by indulging in it. The way according to Osho is neither but befriending sex, knowing it and not to get stuck with it but go beyond it where one would feel bliss of existence. Those who get stuck with sex, in masturbatory, homosex or heterosex levels cannot transcend sex. They crib about and find fault with others and end up miserable and jealous.
