Multiple Gods, Animal Gods and Penis worship in Hinduism !

What all things the Hindus worship ! Elephant, Cow, Peacock, Monkeys, Snakes and even Rats !

How many Gods Hindus have? The major ones are Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. Then their wives, Saraswati, Mahalakshmi and Parvati  respectively. Then their children, their wives, their animal vehicles, and subordinate Gods. Add to this list the Sun, the moon and other planets and stars, Water, Air, Space and Agni and finally the Earth itself! Then the rivers, the mountains, the trees, the whale; in short almost everything that is around is God to the Hindu ! Totalling 330 million, no less. Mind boggling to say the least ! And still when pushed to the corner, the Hindu will quote scriptures and claim there is only one God like the other religions. Some nerve?

What does this mean? Or does this mean anything at all or just the clear reflection of confusion of the Hindus?

The God Shiva's family is the test case of multitude. Shiva and Parvati have two sons Ganapati and Subramanian. Ganapati's head is replaced with an elephant head, the first head transplanting operation ever reported. We only have technologies to transplant hearts. Head transplant is still science fiction at this point of time. Imagine a Lion with Tiger head or better a Giraffe with human head. Children would love the latter and laugh their hearts out !

Ganapati's vehicle is a mouse. Must be a big one indeed to bear the load of its elephant headed master with a huge pot belly ! Ganapati's brother uses Peacock as a vehicle. Shiva wears a snake as his garland and an Ox is his vehicle. Look at the possible mess in a family get together!

The food of snake is mouse. Peacock eats snakes. If the situation is not under control, then the snake of Shiva may eat the mouse of Ganapati and the peacock of Subramanian may eat the snake of father Shiva. The Ox of Shiva may get confused and trample all others ! Chaos ! Vehicles of Gods will be damaged or worse consumed  by rival vehicles !

In India there are dedicated temples for monkeys and rats much to the sneer from other religions. Why worship the animals or even the miracle gurus like Sai Baba? Why not worship just the creator directly like us who created all these animals and humans including the Gurus is their logical doubt.

The last straw is that the Hindus worship Shiva Ling along with their other numerous forms of God. Ling means the symbol and also means the phallus. Other religions regard it as the best joke yet from the Hindus. Worshipping the penis of God of all things ? Dear Hindu, wake up. Look at us. We worship the God in its entirety. What is the point in worshipping parts of God? And of all things the ...... ! Don't these Hindus have any shame?! Worshipping the animals itself shows the stupidity. And the penis of God ? How disgusting !

It seems only cockroaches and mosquitoes are spared by Hindus from worshipping for obvious reasons ! LOL !

The following information is available to the inquisitive truth seeker.

The animals were considered worship able may be due to two reasons. One reason is the realisation that all living things happened from one life source and hence are siblings in the ultimate analysis. It may have been a clever strategy by the Rishis to inculcate a culture to respect animals also than looking down upon them.

The second possible reason is that in ancient times, people were illiterate wild hunters who had no remorse in killing animals and birds for food. However this lifestyle was violent and not conforming to the vision of the Rishis who realised the harmony of co-existence than the wildness of killing and blind consumption. Thus it was possibly a conscious attempt by the forefathers to inculcate a culture among the wild hunters on peaceful co-existence with nature. They had to be scared off from killing birds and animals which was their established lifestyle. The way adopted was to present the animals also as Godly and hence beyond killing.

Today no one says PETA is a laughable concept. Kindness to birds and animals is an accepted as a good quality of the people and is promoted. On the other hand no one laughs at a slaughterhouse either ! Killing animals and birds is accepted as a normal activity by many without any guilt whatsoever. But they do find it laughable that Hindus worship animals and birds. It is the worship part that irks other religions. To them, animals are below humans ! To worship animals needs only madness. 

One has to give credit to the times the 'animal worship' was introduced. It started 1000s of years ago. It was probably an attempt to present the birds and animals as lovable and respectable. Killing and eating them on sight was probably the prevailing lifestyle ! Why love a deer while hungry? The hunters had to be guided to civilised living and farming. From Non veg to veg. Once farming started, the hunting habit reduced. But still the idea that birds and animals are not merely foods but are also lovable living beings like humans was probably not digested by the hunters as easily as they digested tasty meat ! So a conscious attempt was made by the Rishis to change the lifestyle and mindset of hunters. They introduced animals and birds also as worship able. Now the hunter needs to think twice about killing animals and birds after having bowed to them in temples. A knot is made in his mind. Earlier killing was an instinctive activity. Like a cat jumping on a mouse passing by. No thoughts required. Imagine a confused cat wondering whether to kill a mouse or not ! The cat has no doubts. If hungry it would kill. Similarly the hunters. Spot an animal or bird passing by and the hunter would kill it. He knew just that. A change in mindset was to be introduced afresh to guide the hunters into civilization.

Is respecting birds and animals a laughable idea? To the hunters, may be yes ! To the civilised, it is a desirable culture. To the mystic, it is simply being one with the nature. So before other religions laugh at this Hindu tradition of respecting birds and animals, just verify who the potential laughers rub shoulders with. PETA or Abattoir. Now try to laugh. Ha Ha or Tee Hee !

What about multiple gods?

The God concept as understood by the Indian Rishis was difficult to describe. If God was described as anything, then God gets limited to that description. God is the entirety of the universe. The visible universe is the expressed form of God. Like a tree is the expressed form of a seed. This is a very good euphemism. The seed is God and the tree is the universe. Now this description is not God, mind you. It is the closest attempt to describe God. If the universe is the tree and God is the seed, then the seed is different from the tree? No. The seed transformed into the tree. So is the seed dead?

This is the problem of language and logical knowledge accumulated from this world. The tree and seed is an example to understand Universe and God. Not a real seed and a tree. The seed when expressed is the tree. When not expressed it remains as the seed (concept / idea).  So is the God just an idea? A wonderful idea ? An idea that can change our lives? Will there remain a giant seed (egg) when the universe is no more? Such egg also requires matter to take shape. The tree is a concept or idea developed in time and space with matter. That idea is God. The tree gets visible in time, space and matter because the idea is behind it. So when we look at a tree, look at it in entirety. Its enormous size as well as the little seed from which the tree was born over time.

Now the same idea is behind all the living things and the planets and the stars. That is all. God is described. Is this description God? No it is the idea. Is the idea God? Yes and more. It is the idea behind the universe as well as the universe itself. This is simple enough to understand for illiterate and children.

But even the educated, for that matter the so called philosophers find it difficult to understand. Because their knowledge creates a curtain. The worldly knowledge becomes a barrier to understand things which are beyond the world. God is simply mind boggling ! So what about the common man ? How does an enlightened Guru explain the concept of God to an illiterate with a kind attitude to make him somewhat understand it?

So the Rishis tell the illiterate hunters. God exists in everything. Esavasyamidam sarvam ! Sarvam? All? Yes. What about me? Yes it is in you also. Thank you Rishi ! What about the poor beggar? The sick, the handicapped? None spared. If alive, the God is there within. What about animals? Animals also have developed from the same life energy. The trees, the mountains, the rivers, the Earth itself, the water, the air, the Agni, the space, the planets, the sun, the other stars, the galaxies, the universe... all are created by or rather manifested by God.

It is not actually a creation like a sculptor making a statue and then leaving it and making another one at another place. The sculptor and statue are separate unconnected entities to the observer. God expresses itself in the form of the universe.  The universe is the expressed form of God. God is the axis, the base the foundation of this universe. Why it made the universe ? To see its qualities by itself. How does it see and feel the universe? Through the five senses. The eyes, the nose, the ears, the tongue and the skin. These all humans have ! In fact I have them ! So through me the God experiences the universe without even ‘I’ knowing about it ! Not only humans all animals also have senses. So through animals also the God experiences the world. In fact all living things are live sensors to God. Animals are just antique models of human being. Like antique cars to a Ferrari ! In other words animals are man's forefathers.

Imagine an ox as man's great grand father. Try to convert the ox into a human being in photo shop !

So how do we realise this God ? The Rishis realised that everything is just an expressed form of God. So everything has the presence of God. God is the soul of each and every living thing. Even I have this soul within me. So how do I pray to this God? I will have to pray to my self which appears ridiculous. Because I do not consider myself as all that desirable in the first place ! So that is the problem. The mind and its accumulated knowledge is the problem. The society has told us that the rich, the better looking, the young etc are better off than the poor, the ugly and the old respectively. So we become confident when the society tells us so. Otherwise we feel subdued to better people as demanded by the society.

So we mostly feel inferior and sometimes feel good. The mind is alive. This mind will never understand what the rishi says. That everyone is the same. A pebble and a jewel may be the same to the rishi. To most people, there is difference ! Rishi is stupid ! Lets be wise and possess that jewel. Let the rishi have all the pebbles. After all he only said that the pebbles are the same as jewels! This is the human mindset inculcated by the society. To the society the rishi with no desire and fear is an aberration. Not a rule. A greedy fearful man is well understood and accepted by the society. Such people are treated as ‘normal’. A rishi is different from others. The difference is in the minds. So watch this  mind. It can make a rishi and a mad man out of ‘normal’ people. Even God cannot help ! Isn’t that interesting?

People have different likings and tastes. With these likings habits develop and the mind becomes biased to its likings. To progress spiritually, the mind is to be under control. Conversely, when the mind is under control, spiritual progress happens. The mind is the hindrance to know God ! Goodness gracious ! We keep the mind and with that give a slip to God. Because it suits our pending desires to continue the life than wasting time on God and all that high funda headaches ! There is no time to search the truth about ourselves. Lets enjoy first as much as possible. When I am fed up of all enjoyments, may be after 80 years of age, I may give a thought to God. Poor chap has so laboriously created all this for 'my' consumption ! One has to be grateful.

To control the mind, one way is to make it concentrate or focus its attention on something. As mind has the tendency to like or dislike things and persons, it is better to imagine about something that the mind likes to keep the attention of mind prolonged at that object or person. So a person who likes alphonso mangoes can think of them in order to focus and control the mind. None may like to think of their school headmaster with a cane in hand as the image to concentrate the mind ! Imagining even the sexy actress would do to start with ! Objects are just a tool to focus the mind.

Similarly the multiple gods in Hinduism. God in its entirety cannot be imagined by human mind. Because the mind has likes and dislikes, orientations and biases and God has none ! So human minds can accept 'parts' of God to start with meditation with an aim to reach the 'complete' God later. What are parts of God to make a choice object to meditate with?

God is knowledge, peace, bliss, consciousness, beyond time and space, with no beginning or end. These are many qualities each looking vast beyond perceivable limits. But a start is to be made o understand God. So lets take one of its qualities and understand it as much as possible. Then take another one ! Thus imagine God as knowledge. Human minds cannot conceive abstractness. Mind needs a form to imagine. Hence the Goddess Saraswati is imagined as the deity of knowledge. Female, good looking and pleasing to minds showering knowledge ! Most importantly not scary ! It is now possible to imagine a goddess of knowledge which is a part of God with infinite qualities.

All may not fall for boring knowledge deities! Some think knowledge is useless and wealth is more important. Even if not educated, if rich one can survive. God is the owner of all wealth. Hence the wealth is part of God. Hence Mahalakshmi is introduced as goddess of wealth. Again female, good looking showering gold coins ! Not bad at all to imagine. Feels good ! Those who like wealth may imagine her as personalised deity leaving the goddess of knowledge !

Obstacles are felt by many in life. Hindus carved out a part of the wholesome god to create their most popular deity, Ganapati the elephant headed God. If any obstacles are faced in life, they pray to that part of god which creates obstacles!  God is a huge system of controls ! Like a government secretariat office ! The application has to be made in the appropriate section for speedy redressal ! So when there are obstacles, pray to Ganapati. When the child needs to study, pray to Saraswati. When wealth is required invoke Mahalakshmi ! It is far easier than imagining God as all inclusive and making lumpsum prayers ! Indians know how the govt offices function !

Now is Ganapati or Saraswati or Mahalakshmi individual Gods? Even the die hard Hindus will not say that. They would say "They are the imaginary parts of  the almighty single God which my mind likes to imagine. I want wealth. So I invoke or see God as the custodian of all wealth. I do not see God as all the knowledge at this time. That would be a distraction. I only want to see God as wealth. When I need knowledge, I look upon God as the totality of knowledge. I do not recognise the wealth part at that time. My intention is knowledge. Not wealth. Then I may sometimes face difficulties even if I have knowledge and wealth. So I like to look upon God as the force that removes the obstacles. I am comfortable this way. If you are comfortable some other way, please do be comfortable the way you feel right! I have no issues. Loka Samastha Sukhino Bhavanthu ! (May all beings in the world live comfortably !). Not just me and my dear ones. But let all be comfortable. Then me and my people also will be comfortable”. Further the prayer is not just for all people but all beings on earth. 

Meet Mr. Hindu. He has split up the almighty God into smaller deities of his liking for his convenience. And God is so playful and fun loving that it would manifest the way it is invoked. The rigid short tempered headmaster concept of God created by the cunning half wit priests and not by the founders of religions who have known God personally. If you have any doubt on the all pervasiveness and fun loving nature of God, just give a test. Imagine god in a stone which you can keep in a special place. Imagine the stone as if God manifests in it. And then meditate that stone. You can feel the presence of God in that stone. It is not your imagination. You can Really feel that presence where you like to invoke Godly presence!

So that is what the Hindus did. Split the lumpsum God into bits and pieces of bearable sizes and shapes of smaller Gods and focus the attention on that quality of God which the devotee's mind is in harmony with. Thus there are multiple Gods in Hinduism which are not really independent Gods but dissected forms of the totality of God into understandable and invokable sizes and shapes to human minds with varying tastes and likings.

Will the God be angry with this? The wrath of God ! Hell fire ?

You simply do not know God. That is why such doubts rise in mind. It is because of the fear and ignorance injected by religions and priests about God as a fearsome tyrant looking for mistakes to punish. These are imaginations of fearful minds. Not God’s qualities. For a first hand information about God, ask the prophets directly and never through the priests ! God is Love ! Who said it? Jesus. God is the only thing that one should never be afraid of. God is the only friend that would not disown you even if your mother abandons you. God is your mate. Your own soul. Your life. Your father. Your mother.

You can imagine and invoke God whichever way you please. Anything is game for God. In fact it may be looking for innovative roles to play and sing and dance. It is so playful that a whole universe is created to play around with and watch the fun. You imagine God as a stupid for creating so many stars wasting the scarce resources? God will just smile ! The eternal smile of Krishna. God and anger? Anger is in human mind. God is beyond the mind. It is the half wit priests’ idea that God is a headmaster with a cane. This suits his hideous plan to make people fearful and submissive so as to exploit them. What are we talking about?

Wait ! This clarification still does not solve the penis worship procedures !

Penis is the male organ of creation. Religions led by half wit priests looked down upon sex and swept it under the carpet for ages. Man became ashamed of his sexuality and treats it as something to be hidden and not to be discussed in public. The church is the prime guilty in this matter. 'Man is born out of sin' is their starting line. Sex is sin to be pardoned by God is their version. Hence the stories of holy pregnancy of the prophet. If Jesus is presented as a normally born man, he cannot be spared from the sin theory. So he was born from Holy spirit in a sexless union. But a human mother was unavoidable. So she was presented as a holy virgin mother. Problem solved.

But not dissolved. See how it goes. It all started with their own theory of 'sex is sin' to conveniently clarify some incident that suited the preachers. Now that theory itself is making them run and make excuses in other contexts. Until the truth that 'sex is a natural faculty of living things for procreation' is accepted, such face savers would have to be invented on a regular basis.

Ancient Indian culture did not shy away from sex as per historical evidence available. Such as the book "Kaama Sutra" written by (of all people, a saint) Vatsyayan and the sculptures and statues in various positions of coitus in Ajanta and Ellora caves &Temples. Sex was treated as a necessary natural activity to be done with utmost care and respect. And definitely not a matter of shame or guilt. The best times and ways for child making were researched and documented.

The people have become ugly and hypocratic by training. Males first get corrupt under pressure from priests who pretend or posture as above sex (they are actually not). Then the males corrupt the females to make females think along with the males. On the one hand, sex is their most favouite activity. On the other hand, they donot accept this simple truth in public. Thanks to religions, they even tend to think that they are doing something wrong and prohibited. When all alone, males know that their penis is the most valuable asset for fun and relaxation. They even feel proud of having bigger tools than fellow beings and their capability to have prolonged sex compared to the others. Males create prostitutes to service the sex starved males and then make the society look down upon the prostitutes and not the males who use them !

Pornography is another perversion due to suppressed sex. Prostitution and Pornography are the biggest businesses on earth patronised and promoted by males under cover. They behave normal in daylight in public and are appropriately called daylight gentlemen. When the night falls their fang (the penis) come out looking for potential holes to explore.  When the light comes, they are back to the normal family man.

The problem with these males is that they never learn. They donot simply want to learn. They know all that moral and ethical things like any other but simply cannot help controlling sex when the situation is condusive. From one hole to another they shuttle under the cover of darkness. They talk loud about all subjects under the sun. Their real silent interest is to look out for potential lays. So the penis is the most cherished organ of a male. By extrapolating this liking, it can be said that males actually worship their penises. Without penis, a male is nothing. It is his most beloved, most important organ. He would not mind having even a spare, bigger one to start from where he finished with the existing organ.

But just ask him to admit that in public ! He will say it is shameful to talk like that. But why? If you really think your most important organ is the penis, why don't you say so? Society moulded by religions resist. Penis is located below the belt. No below the belt issues in public ! Man has become a slave of this conditioning. To the extent that he has to hide or muffle his likings. However this has a side effect. What he hides in daylight, in public will come out at night when alone. There is no escape. He has trapped himself into this self denial mode. So when someone when openly praises something that the society has shunned, he beomes the butt of ridicule. Ridicule is a strategy of the society to make someone behave as the society feels ! It is mass psychology. Individulas are not given any freedom to manipulate that.

So people laugh at the penis in public and fondle it when alone. Tell them that the penis is an important organ to procreate, they would giggle thinking about the procreation process. Procreation can be done in various levels. From body (animal) level to mind level (romance) and then spiritual where it may just be holding hands or embracing each other and saying prayers. Those still in the body level think the penis is funny and their experience is concentrated around that organ only.The bodies unite but the minds may be elsewhere. The male amy be thinking about an actress while copulating with his wife and the wife may be thinking about a black man when hubby is inside her. This is but only to be expected. The mind is obsessed with sex and is trained to condemn sex. the male has no respect for his penis (even about himself for that matter) and he wants to forget about it as soon as possible to avoid shame.

Orgasm happens as usual during ejaculation. But that is an ordinary short orgasm ! De poyi... daa vannu ! Back to the senses. Lets decouple before someone comes ! Slam bam Thank You Maam !

In the romance level, the minds are in harmony and penis is just a part of a loving body. Love fills the whole body and nothing appears despicable. In the spiritual level, to the observer the couple may be just seen embracing each other at the body level, but the merging happens at the soul. They are then not two people doing sex but a single merged entity experiencing the presence of existence. To understand this stage one has to actually experience it by removing the ridicule in mind accumulated and carried in the body level. Most live and die in body level without even knowing the higher levels! Those who have experienced only body level sex. They think all experience sex the same way. And hence the ridicule. I know what you did last summer !

Growing out of this developed shame in mind is the way out to experience higher levels of not only sex but the very life (existence) itself. Until then they would shy away or laugh at sex in public but do it under cover in private. Even they do not respect themselves. How can the others value what they conveniently say according to their perverted minds?
